A Home for Gingy

In an attempt to ease the transition to naps at preschool, I took Connor shopping for a nap buddy. He picked this gingerbread boy who is generally referred to as "Gingy". Well, Connor loves Gingy and says he is his "best toy." So, instead of Gingy becoming a special school buddy, he is now carted to and from school every day and we have to keep track of him for bedtime every night. Which is not so easy considering he's about 4 inches high.

We spent an evening with Aunt Heather & Uncle Steve, and among other things made a gingerbread house. Connor quickly decided that this was Gingy's house and was looking forward to showing him in the morning (since Mom said that wet icing would not go well with him).

The house looked awesome and I'm sure Gingy was pleased with it the next day, although I didn't hear a report. But, just a couple of days later we were sitting eating dinner when a whole side of icing just slid right off of the house. We immediately looked at Connor, expecting him to be devastated. Instead he said "Uh oh. Mom, you're going to have to tell Gingy. He's going to be upset."
