Happy First Birthday!!!

Its been a year since our little man was born. Since yesterday I've been thinking, "at this time last year we were leaving for the hospital", or "a year ago right now we were reunited after they took Connor to the nursery". It has definitely been a sentimental day, but at the same time we are enjoying the stage we're in now and everything that is still to come. Brian and I both feel that we enjoy being parents more each day, and this is such an exciting time for Connor too. He has grown up so much, even in just the past month. He is now walking across rooms, using his first sign language (more, eat, and milk), and even using some words ("Hi!" is the current favorite followed by "dada", and an occasional "ma" or "Ty"). The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of development and we are loving every minute of it.

Today we started a birthday tradition - taking Connor to do something fun of his choosing, followed by dinner out for special Irish food (at least until he nixes that idea in favor of Chuck E Cheese or something). He couldn't exactly tell me what he wanted to do this year, so I took him to the library for storytime since books are his favorite "toy". We went to dinner where they had a terrific Irish band and special St. Patrick's Day menu. Connor had a blast and ate some of our corned beef & cabbage and Guinness pot roast with potatoes and carrots. He was mostly excited, though, about people watching, checking out the band, and playing with his first set of green beads. It was a wonderful family evening, one of many more to come.
