Perfecting his newest skill

What a difference a few days makes! Connor is now sitting up like a pro. He still needs a person (or a cushion) nearby for a tumble here and there, but he is almost to the point of not needing us right there with him. His favorite place to practice his new skill? Grammy's house in the grass. We were visiting today and he was completely content to sit there and feel the lawn. Naala (my parents' dog) got up from a comfy place elsewhere in the yard to lay next to Connor the minute we put him down. We don't know if she was being protective or just wanted to be the center of attention along with him, but either way it was precious and Connor certainly enjoyed it!

Its official - Connor's eyes are brown. They still look green sometimes depending on the day, but overall they are a beautiful light brown - with maybe a little bit of green in there too. I just got a macro lens for my camera, so was experimenting with trying to capture his perfect little details!

Brothers

For those Emmet Otter fans out there, cue the jugband music...

Ty and Connor had a very cute play session this weekend. There is definitely some mutual admiration between these brothers. Ty is such a gentle boy - oh how I love that dog!

Sitting!

On Wednesday Connor seemed nowhere close to sitting up on his own. He was still leaning forward on his arms, and then only for several seconds before he would slump forward. On Thursday, though, something must have clicked because he started sitting up unsupported! I was (very happily) shocked when I got home from class and he was sitting in front of Grammy showing off his new skill. By today he was even better - only falling backward occasionally. And although to me it seems like a huge milestone deserving of a celebration, Connor is calm as can be about it all.

What's new

I'm back at school at Penn State full-time (and then some), so my posts may be less frequent and condensed. But I'll try my best to keep this updated at least once a week! Connor is spending 3 days a week with my mom, his Grammy, and he is loving it - as you can tell.


Several weeks ago he figured out how to roll all the way to his tummy, which was a wonderful development (we thought). Now he rolls onto his tummy while sleeping and gets quite upset when he wakes up because he doesn't yet know how to roll back! Brian and I have spent many an exhausting night lately going in to flip him over when he wakes up and voices his frustration (insistently). Its getting a little better, though. Sometimes he wakes up from a nap perfectly happy to be on his tummy, so I was sure to capture it.

First Time Swimming!

Our friends Tom & Steve invited us over to swim in their pool on Sunday. We were so excited to see what Connor would do, and after some initial trepidation he seemed to enjoy it. He kicked and even kept putting his face into the water (although I think he was just trying to get a drink). We'll definitely do it again! If you're wondering why Brian and I are carrying around an umbrella in the video, its because Connor can't wear sunscreen until he's 6 months old, so we had to keep him covered up in the sun. We were quite a spectacle I'm sure.

Tummy time is occasionally more tolerable for Connor with this toy we found. He gets completely absorbed in spinning the wheel. But I (unfortunately) find myself singing the song over and over and over again...
