Sitting!

On Wednesday Connor seemed nowhere close to sitting up on his own. He was still leaning forward on his arms, and then only for several seconds before he would slump forward. On Thursday, though, something must have clicked because he started sitting up unsupported! I was (very happily) shocked when I got home from class and he was sitting in front of Grammy showing off his new skill. By today he was even better - only falling backward occasionally. And although to me it seems like a huge milestone deserving of a celebration, Connor is calm as can be about it all.

What's new

I'm back at school at Penn State full-time (and then some), so my posts may be less frequent and condensed. But I'll try my best to keep this updated at least once a week! Connor is spending 3 days a week with my mom, his Grammy, and he is loving it - as you can tell.


Several weeks ago he figured out how to roll all the way to his tummy, which was a wonderful development (we thought). Now he rolls onto his tummy while sleeping and gets quite upset when he wakes up because he doesn't yet know how to roll back! Brian and I have spent many an exhausting night lately going in to flip him over when he wakes up and voices his frustration (insistently). Its getting a little better, though. Sometimes he wakes up from a nap perfectly happy to be on his tummy, so I was sure to capture it.

First Time Swimming!

Our friends Tom & Steve invited us over to swim in their pool on Sunday. We were so excited to see what Connor would do, and after some initial trepidation he seemed to enjoy it. He kicked and even kept putting his face into the water (although I think he was just trying to get a drink). We'll definitely do it again! If you're wondering why Brian and I are carrying around an umbrella in the video, its because Connor can't wear sunscreen until he's 6 months old, so we had to keep him covered up in the sun. We were quite a spectacle I'm sure.

Spin Spin a Letter

Tummy time is occasionally more tolerable for Connor with this toy we found. He gets completely absorbed in spinning the wheel. But I (unfortunately) find myself singing the song over and over and over again...

Playing Pro

After scheduling a photo session for Connor with a professional photographer, it got me thinking that I should try to use our fancy camera to take some "professional-looking" pictures of my own. I don't know that I succeeded, but the black & white does make them look like a little more than your standard point and shoot. Hopefully I can learn more about how to take good pictures so we don't have to rely on the pros! I also hope Connor won't be too embarrassed later in life that I posted a picture of his bum online. :) Its just too cute - I couldn't resist.

Beautiful day

We've had an abundance of perfect weather days lately, and luckily they fell over a weekend so that we could enjoy them together as a family. Connor can't sit on his own yet, but does really well when propped against something, so we went out to the backyard to let him explore a little. He was so fascinated by the grass that we couldn't even get him to look up for a picture.

Sunday in the park

We spent time at the park with our friends Sherry, Michael, & Sofia. It was an absolutely perfect day, and Connor enjoyed himself so much that he didn't even nap - he was awake from 9:30 to 2! I believe that's a new record. Ty came along too, and as usual he provided lots of entertainment - and a very patient pillow.
